Well, with starting work and school starting for the younger folks in the Nutty Farm, we have been plumb busy! I am sure it is the same with all other folks out there. This is my excuse, however, for not blogging in what seems to have been an eternity.

Folks, I have mentioned here and there that I have had a little project in the works for the past year and a half. It is done and complete so here it is in all its glory: (insert drumroll here)

Is anyone else dying from allergies out there? It has been about a month now. Symptoms include:

Keeping the house boarded up. No windows or doors are allowed to open. Ever.
Sneezing 20 times in a minute. It's my new workout.
Inability to do anything. At any time.
My contacts have been laid to rest. Glasses are en vogue!
Wet compresses on my face at night. Look out baby, I am one hot momma!!

I am ready for this season to be over!!!

A Shopping I Will Go!

Here is my shopping list for the week. Grayson was very helpful in letting me know what we need.

Milk and grapes were the first on the list (that was what was cut off).

That was followed by cheese, mushrooms, turkey meat, hamburgers, pickles, catsup, mac and cheese, pop (the cereal if you're wondering), and popcorn.

What can I say? We eat healthy around here!! ")

**Sidenote for the Fantastic Falcon award...it is an award from the school that children can earn by completing 10 requirements throughout the year.

It's finally coming together!

After living here for almost a year and a half, I am proud to announce that I am satisfied with one room in the house!

Have you ever done something so embarrassing that you couldn't stop laughing at yourself?

I did on Monday.

I was standing right next to a student while talking to a teacher. I felt a rumble in my tummy and tried to have some control but failed. I let out a faint "pop, pop, pop!!" I hoped the student didn't hear but sure enough I saw her grab the girl sitting next to her and start whispering. I then saw the other girl say, "What!?!?" and then the whispering continued and both girls started laughing. I finished the conversation quickly, walked nonchalantly out the room then ran to my office where I bust out laughing and call Dan.

Well, what can I say? I farted in a student's face!! Really, I think it is every educators dream come true.

Yes, my dear cousin, I deserve the comment on the post below. I have been away for so long and only gave my opinion of the weather. So here's what been cookin' at the Nutty Farm!

Nothing!!! But I'll give you some boring updates anyway.

I bought a bunch of quiet book pages that I have been busily working on. Hoping these produce some miracle for Sacrament meeting time. I'll keep you posted on that.

I also started and finished some file folder family home evening games that my dear buddy, Sarah, gave to me about 4 1/2 years ago! Now we might have a family home evening a few times a year!

I have also been much more diligent in taking care of my body though I am not losing weight. Oh, well. I am gaining muscle and I believe my tummy is getting smaller. Yay! I have lost over 2.5% of body fat since September. Go me! I am feeling nice an healthy which is my main objective so I am very proud of myself.

Tbe kids are in swimming lessons on three different days of the week, so that does keep my hopping. I am looking to get Grayson into golfing lessons. Alora is still in dance. I'll have to get a video of that one of these times. That class is one of the funniest things ever!!!

I had a little project in the works back in March of last year. I have just received notice that it is almost done so I just might be switching things around here. Exciting!

Best Ever Taco Soup

Need Something Quick and Yummy for Dinner?

This is an easily made and easily adapted dinner. Dan hates all beans except black so I just substitute one can of black for the 3 of the chili. My kids think this dinner is the best because they can basically make it by themselves!! Added bonus: all three eat it!

Taco Soup:

1 lb. ground beef

1 large onion, chopped

3 cans (15 oz) Mexican Style Chili Beans, undrained

1 can (15 oz) whole kernel corn, undrained

1 can ( 15 oz) tomato sauce

1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained

1 can (4.5 oz) chopped green chiles

1 envelope (1 1/4 oz) taco seasoning

1 envelope (1 oz) Ranch-style dressing mix

1 1/2 cups water

Toppings: corn chips, shredded lettuce, chopped tomato, sour cream, shredded Cheddar

Cook beef and onions in Dutch oven until meat is browned. Drain.

Stir beans and next 7 ingredients into beef mixture; bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Spoon into bowls, top with toppings, ENJOY!!

Grayson decided to run away today.

It is not his first attempt (I am a VERY mean mom!!)

But, I realized that I REALLY wanted a picture of this!

I was kind enough to remind him to take his coat. He apparently did not need shoes. I told him next time he might want to remember those, too.

Christmas Ponderings

So, I was super excited to post darling pictures of our little Christmas since we now have a working camera but luck doesn't like me much today. My memory card will not open, so too bad for all ya! But, I thought I'd go ahead and make a little post anyway.

Santa was super kind to our family this year and brought Grayson a drum and percussion set. Yes, folks, drums. And all of a sudden we are the Partridge Family.

See?

Seriously, though. Alora is quite the rock star on the bongo and Aiden can get the tambourine smoking! I prefer the egg shaker myself. Dan is accomplished on all the instruments. What can I say? I married a rock star!

Alora has been kindly blessed with her princess barbie girl set. It is all she ever hoped for and more. Except for possibly a drum set of her own.
Aiden was sadly jipped by Santa. He forgot to buy anything for the little man. Thankfully Mom and Dad stepped in with one gift more than they gave Grayson and Alora. Weird how that math worked out....

Christmas is officially down and packed now, thank goodness. Aiden might live another day now that those tempting decorations are in storage. I was a little tired of broken ornaments. And yes, yes, I know I should have gone with shatterproof instead of glass.

I'm back! I've been such a scrooge about posting since we have been sans pictures. A family blog should never be without photos!! So, we went and purchased a new camera this week (finally!!!) and are back in business!!

But before I get to the fabulous pictures I have been taking this week ( I have totally gone picture crazy since I have been missing my camera these past two months!) let me post about the wonderful and fantastic Jessica Hughes!! I am in LOVE with her and her work! Look at the fantastic photographs she took of my children:

I am trying to do this post with a little man helping me. It just isn't helpful!

Well, I have been as good as dead in the blogging world this month. It is time to become resurrected, however, and update ya'll on this wonderful, blessed month of October.

In this month I/We have:

A yard!! In case you are wondering why there is not a picture attached, read on!
A broken camera. :( Darn little girls who think they are photographers.
Still no fence. Supposed to be here today but....
SNOW!! Today we are having our first snowfall. That makes me believe we will not have a fence tonight.
Window well guards put in.
Window boxes put in.
Cement poured.
Been off track and are now on track again.
Done Red Ribbon Week at the Elementary school. Did it three weeks ago and doing it again this week for those who were off track.
Had the flu. All of us but Dan.
Had bugs. Aiden and Alora. Poor little buggers.
Molars coming in. Yes, in case you are wondering, that would be Aiden.
Lots of classes (cheer and basketball) at the gym.
A basketball hoop!! It's amazing how popular you become once you have one of these.
Learned how to dribble, and thank goodness for that. It took over month to learn this.
Lost five and a half pounds.
Gained five and a half pounds.
Had several Halloween parties. Fun fun!!
Played and played and played with neighbor kids.
Started Family Home Evening!!
Started a book that I don't believe will get past 5 chapters. Writing is hard!
Enjoyed being extremely lazy by avoiding the computer at all costs.

So, that was our month. One day I'll post pictures of the house. It looks fantastic. This is definitely the best yard we have ever had!! (Little does it matter that it is the ONLY yard we have ever had!)

Sorry I've been neglectful of your blogs, all. I will pick up and start reading again soon!!

I am moving from angry (I resolved the issue!!) to spiritual!

A wonderful woman in my ward has organized a charity even that I am thrilled to help out with.

On Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 7:00 a.m. there will be a 5 mile Temple to Temple Steeplechase. The steeplechase begins at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple and ends at the Jordan River Temple. This is not a race but an opportunity to spend 5 miles of your life helping children in need! It is meant to be a fun walk/run where for everyone of every ability. Children are welcome! Along the route will be the opportunity to reflect upon life and the obstacles we face (I have heard rumors that there will be spiritual opportunities along the way if looked for).

The race is $15 for adults and $10 for youth/children. All finishers will receive a specially-designed key chain medallion. Registration must be completed by September 24 at midnight.

Here is an excerpt from the Cynthia, the race director, regarding the charity to be helped:

"I'd like to tell you a little more about the reason I chose The Christmas Box House charity for our Steeplechase." Through my experiences as a licensed foster parent and as an adoptive mother, I have seen first hand how children in state custody (who are all ready in fragile condition) cope with their ongoing fears, frustrations, and overwhelming turmoil. With amazing strength these children of survival endure their heart-wrenching situations. But they cannot combat their problems alone. Only with heaven's help and the involvement of many caring people working together can each child find what they deserve- permanency and parents-that home of their own. I have learned that taking care of our at-risk children is a complicated concern, deserving of our keen attention and cooperation. Every effort makes a difference."

"The Christmas Box House is dedicated to easing the trauma that these neglected and abused children experience. I am grateful for the opportunity to donate the proceeds of this race to their care."

I have worked with many children from the Christmas Box House and am proud to attend this event. This is one of those organizations that I cannot say enough good of. They have saved many of my precious little children that I have had the opportunity to serve and love.

There will also be an Evening of Music, Art, & Inspiration. I am super excited for this! It will be held Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. at the River Ridge LDS Chapel on 10124 S 1300 W (adjacent to the Jordan River Temple). Featured musicians will be Nathan and Warren Mueller, Alexis Boskovich, and Susan Alldredge (also in my ward and an adoptive mother). There will be an unveiling of Anne Marie Oborn's new painting. Roger and Melanie Hoffman (composers of 'Consider the Lillies of the Field') will be guest speakers. This event is Sunday dress and seating is limited to those 18 years of age and older. There is no cost to attend but additional donations to the Christmas Box House will be accepted at the concert donation table.

Sorry friends, this will be an angry post.

I was just called up by some this mom of a woman my sister works with. She started the phone conversation by saying she could ruin my reputation. Say What???? That is all I really should say of this matter other than I totally lost my cool and told this lady off. And, that is not something I do often. The last time that happened was a year ago with a family member who was a bit out of control in front of my children (which I will not tolerate). I really am a non confrontational person but there are some things you don't do, like call someone up and tell them they are going to ruin you. Sidenote: I have NO idea what this is concerning!!! This mom couldn't explain anything to me about what was going on!!! And, that just made me more mad. I then told her that she shouldn't interfere with issues she knows nothing about and that I would no longer talk to her and that if her daughter has an issue with me, she should call me instead of everyone else. Then I hung up.

Then I called the woman up to ask her what was going on and she didn't answer. I did leave a message. I told her I was angry that her mother called and yelled at me. I don't think she will call me back. And if I want to be a better person than I REALLY am, I will need to attempt to contact her until this stupid issue.....whatever it is......is resolved.

GRRRRRRRRRRR.

So, I know I was supposed to finish showing the cast but I am sick. I feel real icky. My face hurts all over. And my poor baby has the same thing. Poor Aiden. He is currently clinging to Dan. There really is nothing worse than a sick baby.

Anyho...I digress. I am not feeling terribly clever today so I will just explain what I am doing with this Celebrity Fit Club. This is a series that Dan and I used to watch on VH1. We loved it!! I loved the accountability that people were forced to have in their lives. It wasn't just about weight. It was about being fit emotionally and physically. They did have to weigh in every two weeks and were called out on the carpet when they didn't make progress. Many celebs would give excuses but the judges never let them get away with it.

Well, I am trying very hard not to whine about my weight anymore. It is something that I need to get over. BUT I do need some help being accountable for my decisions (primarily to eat nothing but crap all day long). And I always wanted to see how I could compare to some of these celebs on the show. So, I figured I would do it!

This series actually aired a few years ago. It was very memorable due to the infamous Dustin Dimond. But there were some really motivated celebrities on there so I figured this would be a good team to make myself motivated.

The way it works: I get 100 days to become fit. I will have a target weight and weigh myself every two weeks. I HAVE taken photos of myself and at the end I will compare the two. My main goal is not to lose weight, but to create a habit of working out and eating well and I am hoping that this tired body will tone itself up in the process.

So, I am just trying to have a little fun with getting into shape. I figure if I have to blog about it I will have to do it, right?

So, when I kick this nasty little virus, I'll get going! If anyone does want to join me, feel free!

Celebrity Fit Club

Okay, so I bet you didn't realize I am a celebrity.

Yup. I have been on television in my high school days on the high school TV program. I even worked at the local TV station (well, that was until I was stricken with a sever case of mono a month into it and had to back out, but that is a different story.). I also made a music video with my bud at Snow College to the Dancing Queen. We were fab.

But that was 12 years ago. It is time for me to get some more publicity to restart my career in the biz. So, I am jumping on the reality TV bandwagon.

I am going to star in Celebrity Fit Club: Men vs. Women (registered trademark of VH1).

What's that you say? Hasn't that all ready aired? Well, did you see me in it, folks? I think not. Starting tomorrow I will upload the cast and their stats. And over the next few weeks, we'll see who becomes the winner! The loot: the hottest has-been body around!

Bedtime Stories

Tomorrow night we are heading down to Mt. Timpanogus Park for some Bedtime Stories during the Timpanogus Story Telling Festival! I can hardly wait!!! I have always wanted to go, so here is a huge shout out to Cherish Bound for making that happen. (I have another post about cherish bound in the works...)

As a tween, I would lie in my bed and think of the most tragic story. Everyone always died but me. I would cry so much that my pillow was soaked. The story of Timpanogus was always one that I loved to hear as well. I hope I hear that one at the festival ~wink~wink!

My sister is bringing caramel bars.

I totally do NOT cry at movies. Not that I have anything against people who do...I just don't.

But, I have to be honest. There are a few movies that I know I am going to cry before it even starts.

This is one of those: "Why?" You might ask. Is it the desperate need I have to fix Lane and Kelly's relationship? The fact that it is based on a true story (these are usually the movies you'll find me sniffing in)?

Or is it because he is pierced by a humongo bull horn?

NO. It is because I can't ride.

Seriously, wouldn't I make a great cow girl???

(BTW, I did watch this two nights ago and sobbed my little heart out. Dan blames yesterday's terrible tantrum on the movie. He has mandated that I choose between forever swearing off silly cowboy movies that I cry at or being happy all the rest of our days. The choice is easy, don't you think?)

Like Child, Like Mother

In the words of Grayson, "Today I am having a bad attitude."

Yes, I am.

I am embarrassed to say but I actually had a temper tantrum in the middle of the grocery store today. I did the shopping and went to the pharmacy (Dan was working) to see what time it was. Dan informs me it is 11:03. That means I have 15 minutes to get to Grayson's school to pick him and his two little buddies up!!! School is exactly 15 minutes away. I still hadn't purchased the groceries yet. So, what did I do? I yelled a nice little cuss word that I shan't share here and stormed away. Dan asked something about coming back to pay for the food but I was so beligerent I really don't know what was said. I shouted back that if I came back all the food would be spoiled and left.

Yup.

I returned 1/2 hour later and apologized to the great pharmacy staff who probably now believe I am possessed and the worst wife in the world. Which, today, just might be the case!! Good thing this only happens once a month!!!

Frog on a Log

Yesterday I picked up some little men from school.

One had a piece of candy and the other did not.

The candyless one confessed he had his frog on the log.

"Frog on the Log?" I ask (Doesn't that sound like a good thing, BTW?)

"Yes, Mom. I talked today."

The other little man expounded that it was more than talking. It was funny noises, too.

Ahhhhh. It all makes sense now. My son is just like me. I think we will have a long 12 years of this.

So, I was reading my cousin's blog last night and it made me cry.

She was describing how her young daughter is all ready noticing weight issues. She just turned seven a few months ago!

I haven't been able to stop thining about this. Honestly, the number one thing I talk about is my weight. I call myself "fat, old woman" all the time. The thing is that I am not fat. So why do I call myself it? Even if I was overweight, would that justify me ridiculing myself over it? NO!!

Why do we as women have a difficult time just being happy with who we are and what we have been given? The Lord gave us all different body shapes knowing that there is beauty in large and small, tall and short. Why don't we see that??

Well, I have a few friends who are always appear to feel good about the way they look. Good for you ladies, I wish I could be more like that! I am going to work extra hard at that since I have a daughter who will start noticing how I talk about myself soon....

I want to be a part of the solution rather than continue the problem. I figure I can do this by stopping my obsessively negative comments about myself first. In addition, I want to lift others!!! Has it seriously almost been a month since I've posted? I suppose it has! And today I should focus my energy on Aiden since he is ONE today! (Sigh. Tear.)
I want to do a quick update, however.

Okay, maybe it won't be quick.

On Tuesday night I went to see Julie & Julia with a bunch of bloggin' buddies. On the surface it was a cute show that I thoroughly enjoyed. There was more to it, however, than that. I related to the movie on a deeper level. It was a reflection of things I have been feeling and experiencing over the past year in my life. I found it interesting that there were so many parallels of my life to the movie. First, the movie takes place over 365 days. My little journey has been about a year as well. Julie turned 30 in the movie, as did I last week. And on both these birthday anniversaries, we (Julie and I) felt satisfied with our journeys. Third, blogging was a part of it all.

I found myself wondering at the existence of my life about a year ago. I was a new stay-at-home mother who just gave birth to my last child. I realized that with Aiden's birth went a part of life that I had always anticipated: pregnancy. But with that went infancy as well. I noticed time was moving too quickly and I was not jumping quickly enough.

I had to do something.

It was about this time I decided to take blogging more seriously. I am glad I did. It has been such an sensory experience. I am more alive now as I look for things in life to write about. I notice the scent of the flowers as I walk by them at night. I appreciate the rain on my face and attempt to find words to describe it. I revel in the feelings when my children and I play.

I never find myself writing these things in my blog, however. But I do them. And I am becoming a better person for noticing the world around me.

My relationship with Dan, though always wonderful, has even improved. I love him so much and am finding myself more open to showing him that. I try new parenting techniques I read about on other blogs and have seen success. I am slowly becoming the mother I would like to be, the mother I KNOW I can be.

But there were times that I wasn't so "enlightened." It took awhile for me to put blogging into perspective. Though many do not know this, I plan to begin a new blog soon. I would worry so much about how I could make this blog better. If I couldn't get readership here, how could I get it elsewhere? There were a few posts I did that I thought were funny and learned the hard way that they were not funny to all. I had my own private "meltdowns" as Julie did in the movie.

All in all...I have learned that I love to blog for the fun of it. So what if neither of my blogs go anywhere? I do it for the love of it. I do it because it has reawakened my vocabulary, my love of writing, my love of life.

So, taking a month off has been a product of this journey. I have had a wonderful month filled with birthday parties (5 of them!), play groups, first days at school, a growing business, and many more exciting things. The best part was that I thought of you all during these times! I might not have posted, but you were with me!

Lessons from Tulsa

Number One:

When weighing yourself, you must put the weight all the way into the notch. Let me tell you why this makes a difference.

I was in Tulsa. I went and worked out and the hotel (yay me!) and saw a scale. I stepped on it and adjusted the weights. I was ECSTATIC!!! I hadn't weighed this little since I was in my second trimester with Grayson (yes, folks, I was a tiny first time pregnant lady). Then I realized that the 100 pound weight was just a hair off the notch. I slid it to it's appropriate place and... Whalah! An incredible 13 pounds showed up from nowhere. Amazing, isn't it?

Number Two:

I came home from Tulsa and discovered I had a missing baby. In Champer's place was a darling little toddler who resembled Aiden but was more independent, with an increase in motor development, and a decreased need for Mom. I am still grieving over this. Please, in lieu of flowers, send me your infant for a few hours since we are no longer in the business.

Lesson from Amber: If you don't leave, you will never recognize differences. Your baby can remain your baby until he is 15!

Flashback Wed

My mom grew up all over the place. My grandfather's company moved them from Chicago to Tulsa, OK in between my mom's junior and senior year of high school. She hated it in Tulsa. I have never heard her say a nice thing about it!

So, when I decided to spend several hundreds of dollars to go to Tulsa this past week, I was not thrilled. Thankfully, I discovered that the very little I saw of Tulsa wasn't bad at all! It's just like any other city out there. It is even green! (Seriously, the way she described it, I was expecting nothing but brown dead stuff.)

She graduated from Jinx High School which is a suburb of Tulsa. So, in honor of my weekend trip, here is a photo of my mother not too long after she graduated from high school!

There are many things that I am not good at. But, we cope, right?

There is one thing that always makes me feel guilty, though.

BIRTHDAYS. ARGH.

I am the WORST at remembering birthdays. Half the time I forget my own!!!

Here sits my poor grandfather's birthday card. It is almost two weeks late. And what makes it worse is the fact that I will probably not mail it for another week. I'll just let it sit here, stamped and everything ready to go, on my office desk.

How did I get this out of control? My grandmother, aunt, and mother are always early in their remembrances. Good thing I'm so darn cute to make up for it!! :)

Sick Boy

Grayson threw up in the middle of the night last night.

Despite these sad facts, I took the kiddos to the Kindergarten playground at Grayson's elementary.

We were there for one minute.

I look over at Grayson and he is throwing up on the mat.

Summer of Service Continues!

I cut and pasted this from the Mom It Forward Site because I LOVE how simple it is. Sometimes we get wrapped up in the thought that service has to be BIG. I like to challenge that thought.

Working in a school for so long has made me realize that oftentimes, a child only needs a friendly smile to feel better. So, I love this challenge for the week!

10 Ways to Make a Difference This Week By Smiling

1. Smile inside to give yourself a compliment or a pat on the back for a job well done.

2. Start your day out on a positive step by smiling at yourself in the mirror as you are getting ready.

3. Smile at each family member first thing in the morning.

4. Have a “best smile” contest with your kids to see who has the silliest, funniest, prettiest, nicest smiles. Have each child vote and win prizes in the different categories.

5. Have a “smile stare down” contest with your kids, family members, or friends to see who can stare the longest with a big grin on his or her face.

6. Go on a walk with your family members or friends and count who can smile at the most people. As an added bonus, count how many people you can get to smile back at you.

7. Take pictures of your kids doing their “best smiles.”

8. Make a smile photo album, where you capture each person in your family, smiling in several different settings.

9. Keep a smile log of how many times you smile during a single day and how many times someone else causes you to smile.

10. Keep a smile journal for a day. Write your thoughts and feelings about what smiling at others and others smiling at you does to your mood, your emotions, and the overall tone of your day.

I have been focusing on the kiddos lately since that is where I am greatly lacking in patience. Yesterday we went on a picnic in the living room (Champers was having a sad teething day. And it was raining) where we went on some amazing pretend picnics in fantasy land. Just doing such a small thing brought huge smiles from Bud and Baby. It was wonderful!

SOS Summer

Going in line with my Pay It Forward Friday I am participating in the SOS Summer of Service plan sponsored by Mom It Forward. This week's focus is on the family.

Honestly, the best way to improve our society (and BOY does it need improvement!) is by increasing positive family relationships. I cannot tell you how many families I have worked with that are in total disarray. And the problems from one dysfunctional family have long reaching and long lasting devastating consequences.

But the same is true for strong families. I can quickly name several families that I respected as I grew up. They had trust, love, compassion, and fun! I look around me and see many now. I am thankful for all these great examples as I aspire to become one!

My question for you today: what is your family strength? Ours: Dan and I are a team. We support each other 100%, especially in front of the kiddos. I don't believe they have ever heard us say a disparaging remark to one another, let alone fight.

Let's focus on making our families great!

And, no, I did not find any fingers, thank goodness! Grayson is currently in time out in his room for the little fiasco.

On another totally random note, I have a few crushes going on. I have been debating whether to blog or not to blog but today I have been influenced and must share.

So, all my crushes are on Disney Stars. Pathetic at first until you begin to realize that the only T.V. I EVER watch nowdays is Disney in HD.
Watching Dadnapped the other day I realized that David Henrie is a little hottie. Ya know, he is on Wizards of Waverly Place. I also realized that I have a thing for David's. Not Dave's, but David's. Remember David Duchovny? Yum. I went to school with a hot David, he was gay though. And I was married.

Let me tell you what, those Jonas Brothers are hot enough that a near 30 year old woman can appreciate them. Plus, they make me giggle. Jonas is a nice reminder of the Monkeys, is it not?

It's time, ladies. I put on my swim suit on Friday and almost wanted to cry.

I am so excited.

Then I found a blogger who is starting Fat Flinging Fridays. I am all about getting some good lovin' sent my way now that I embark upon a life of fitness.

My goal: Workout five days a week. I really don't care about "pounds" lost. I just want my flab to begin to look fab!!

Crazy Days Flashback

So, yesterday I was feeling nostaligic. I read a post about Fat Jacks, found a new blogging buddy from Ephraim, and posted a sentence about college years.

I was a big nutcase back in my Snow College years.

Here are some pictures to prove it.

I used to dress like this all the time. My friend's hubby still calls me "hippie girl" to this day.

I also had (honestly, still do) a minimal personal space bubble. Here I am licking a knife with my roomy, Tiffany. We really aren't licking tongues. Not that I probably wouldn't have done that for a good laugh.

Here I am with Heather Sue, the chica who's hubby I mentioned above. Again, notice the mismatched clothing. That wasn't a priority back then. We were playing murder in the dark in an abandoned underground water tank. And yes, we were trespassing.

I was totally going to blog about the wonderful field trip I went on with Buddy and his school today. Then all craziness broke out here.

So, instead, I'm going to complain about being a mom.

Because, it is hard.

And I don't like hard things.

This week, I have honestly been disliking this particular job I signed up for 5 years ago. Why? Who knows. Maybe it is the fact that Dan has been pretty absentee lately with the whole basement being finished thing. I spend all day and all night every day and every night by my little lonesome then head to the basement to work. Props to all you single moms out there!

Anyho, I just want to go skinny dipping in a lake by myself right now. It would be cold but also completely reminiscent of college days past. I used to be crazy like that. Now I am a whiny mom.

Fess up, ya'all! Have you ever had times like this? If you say no, you are either a killer mom (call me if you want two more [I'm keeping Champers cuz he is in the adorable, cute, and easy stage]) or you are a liar, liar pants on fire.

We all know what happens when we don't take enough birth control, right? Notice exhibit A:

Sadly my mother did not know that nursing did not count as birth control. Twelve months after I arrived, so did Bryan. Heart wrenching, isn't it?

WELL, did you know what happens when you take too much birth control? Exhibit B:
I took two pills on Tuesday night because I thought Tuesday was Wednesday and I panicked and took Wednesdays even though it was Tuesday and I did NOT want an exhibit A!!!! Boy. Yesterday was rough.

Being a SAHM has its advantages.

I can take a nap. That right there is enough to sell me!

I actually get ironing done twice a month. (That might not sound like much but it beats the NEVER when I was working!!)

I am my own boss. Unless you throw the kids in the picture. Then they are the boss.

I get to daydream just about all day long. And, move over Stephanie Meyer, I have some AWESOME stories to tell! Now, if only I could write.....

I'm finally posting my Pay It Forward on a Friday! Imagine that!

I am still in the process of collecting Spanish books to send to the Dominican Republic to help establish a library system there. Please remember to search your library! To learn more click here.

But, I also firmly believe that some of the greatest service we can give is the most simple! So, today my forward act is not grand or spectacular.

I have recently mentioned that I know some neat people. I have been very blessed to have you all in my life, thanks for being there! Sarah is one such person. We were next door neighbors at the townhomes. She was often a lifesaver. I could drop off my kids and run to the store or borrow some flour or go over to scream at the insanity of my life. We have both moved, but our friendship has stayed.

Well, she is INCREDIBLY talented. I love her work! And she is putting it to work!!!!! She makes masterpieces out of paper. Well, her hubby has talked her into selling her cards and I couldn't be happier. No more Hallmark for me, thank you very much! Well, most of us know how difficult it is to get the word out there that you are selling some amazing things, so here is my pay it forward! 1. Basa Body is helping women in Kenya use their knowledge to create jobs. Fantastic! I tire of Western orgs going in and mandating how other cultures should live. This is different. While in Kenya, the founders recognized skills that had been used for centuries and merely helped them develop into a company!

Buckaroo Buddy isn't breathing so well lately. It's been going on for about three weeks, which honestly, is typical here.
But I feel bad for him.
Not breathing stinks.
So I do some research were I find:
A big no-no is indoor plants.

Does anyone want two? They are cute! They were gifts from Aiden's birth. I would love for them to move to a new home. They are hearty and do not require much love and attention. Which is why I am sad to see them go.

I must really love my kid.

Pay It Forward Friday....on Saturday

Hi! I am so super excited to post about this week's Pay It Forward. It is not my idea but I'm thrilled to help.

Rachel Denning and her husband are on a mission to bring books to the world. I think this is a great idea! They are starting in the Dominican Republic where most the people are literate but can't read. Why, you ask? Due to the lack of books and libraries most citizens of the DR are unable to read. Their vision: set up a system of miniture libraries to increase book availability.

This is where we can ALL help!!

Please look around your house, local thrift store or neighbors' to find books that can be donated. Because they speak Spanish, books in Spanish are needed. Also, Rachel has requested that these books be more than simple mindless reads....she wants them to be enlightening! Any classic, non-fiction, thought provoking book is on the list!

Another avenue is to purchase some Spanish children's books from Usborne through me! If you would like to do this, email me at amberorme@yahoo.com and I will offer you a great discount since it is for such a great cause!

Going to the Doctor

Yup. Sickness never ends. Grayson had a fever last week and has taken awhile to get better. It is always that way with him, though. Poor kid is always sick.
Alora, however, is a different story. She usually just ignores her illnesses and lives like usual.
Not this time.
Now she has a fever. She has had it for amost 24 hours.
It is averaging 102 degrees and is not breaking.
Guess we are off to see Doctor Shakula.
(LOVE him, btw.)

Riddle me this

So, here is a bit of a riddle that Grayson was telling me yesterday. Let's see if you can pick it up before I did!

Clues:
1. Grayson threw up in the middle of the night two nights ago.
2. "Mom, my arms are cold." (I told him to put a jacket on.)
3. He took a nap.
4. He didn't want candy first thing in the morning because he was worried that he might throw up again.
5. He had two accidents. (He peed on the couch two nights ago and on his bed last night)
6. "Mom, I'm too tired to go any more." (When we had only been on a bike ride for 10 minutes)

So, I totally didn't figure this out until 10:00 p.m. last night when I noticed he was ON FIRE!!!
He had a fever of 102 degrees. He is achy this morning. I think he has the flu.
Poor kids have a slow mother.

Why do I care?

So, here is a question I have. (Side note, this is seriously just a moment to get it out.)
Why do I care? Why do I care what people think about me? Why is it so stinking important for me to be liked by everyone?
I don't care if I'm the favorite.
I just want to be liked....just a little bit.
I KNOW I have some fantabulous friends and family who love me. Props to ya! (Some serious love right back at you, too)
But recently there have been a few people I have extended friendship to and it has gone nowhere fast.
It makes me sad, really sad.
