Flashback Wed

My mom grew up all over the place. My grandfather's company moved them from Chicago to Tulsa, OK in between my mom's junior and senior year of high school. She hated it in Tulsa. I have never heard her say a nice thing about it!

So, when I decided to spend several hundreds of dollars to go to Tulsa this past week, I was not thrilled. Thankfully, I discovered that the very little I saw of Tulsa wasn't bad at all! It's just like any other city out there. It is even green! (Seriously, the way she described it, I was expecting nothing but brown dead stuff.)

She graduated from Jinx High School which is a suburb of Tulsa. So, in honor of my weekend trip, here is a photo of my mother not too long after she graduated from high school!

Flashback Wednesday

Feeling lazy right now.

You get what I have on my computer. And that's not much.

Alora, November 2008.

In all her Toddler Dressing Glory.

She loves putting hats on. And today she wore her snow boots with shorts.
Why? Because she is a rock star. (She rocks it out with the broom!)

Crazy Days Flashback

So, yesterday I was feeling nostaligic. I read a post about Fat Jacks, found a new blogging buddy from Ephraim, and posted a sentence about college years.

I was a big nutcase back in my Snow College years.

Here are some pictures to prove it.
I used to dress like this all the time. My friend's hubby still calls me "hippie girl" to this day.
I also had (honestly, still do) a minimal personal space bubble. Here I am licking a knife with my roomy, Tiffany. We really aren't licking tongues. Not that I probably wouldn't have done that for a good laugh.

Here I am with Heather Sue, the chica who's hubby I mentioned above. Again, notice the mismatched clothing. That wasn't a priority back then. We were playing murder in the dark in an abandoned underground water tank. And yes, we were trespassing.

Hey, what do you expect when you live in a small town surrounded by turkeys???

Creepy Guy Alert!

Kay, so today is not a flashback to the eighties, it is a flashback to my sister's wedding last week.

So, I am hanging around my mom's kitchen during the open house: checking on food, eating food, replenishing food, eating more food, etc. (Can you see why I looked prego, BTW??)
The photographer is standing next to me.
I ask him, "So, how long do you have to stay here tonight?"
He replies, "Oh, my wife has to leave for work at 8:00 so probably until then."
Me, "That's not too bad!"
Him, "Your kids are cute."
The conversation continues about our children.

So, that's not so creepy. Why is this titled Creepy Guy alert?

My sister called me three days later. He (the photographer) told her that I was hitting on him!!!!!!!!!!

HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe I'm just out of the loop. I did not realize that talking about my three children and smiling beautifically at my loving hubby across the kitchen island constituted a line.

BUT WAIT, IT GETS WORSE!

Then he proceeded to tell my sister that he thinks my hubby and I are kinky when we are alone.

CREEPY!!

Flashback Wed.

Dan and I were watching a commercial two nights ago that featured some ugly kids. Dan remarked how ugly the kiddos were. Now, I am very aware of the fact that I was an ugly kid. I am okay with this as I believe I grew out it! I (as a joke.....) replied, I am a great example of an ugly kid turning out okay. Feeling a hubby need to make me feel better about myself (a need that wasn't really there, by the way. Remember, I am okay with this.) he responds, "You weren't an ugly kid, just a poor looking kid." Ahhh. Isn't he sweet?
Here is a picture of my favorite outfit at the time. It was so funky that one of my guy friends from that time (Josh Kirby for those of you who were in this time frame) remembered it after we had graduated from college!!!!!! There was a cute little faux leather black mini skirt that went with it. The eighties were bad to me! :)

Flashback Wed.

I'm in a bad mood today so you're stuck with what I have saved on this computer...and it isn't much!

This is Alora at one of my many meetings for youth conference circa May 2008. I took tons of stickers to entertain so I could preside. It worked for a minute!

Flashback Wednesday....a Day late

I've been utterly sick. I hate it. I am now feeling better but I am a bit late for my flashback Wednesday. Here we go back to 1986. I was a wee little lass of 7 years!

Do you remember these toys? I had those bears....what were they called again? I totally loved Teddy Rexbin (sp) but we were not cool enogh to have one! We did have the little car ramp for my sisters, though.
